Button Loop

I've made many different kinds of button loop closures on these dresses, but my current favorite is a fabric loop. Cut a piece of fabric on the lengthwise grain 4" x 1". Fold in half then fold the edges to the middle crease, then fold up to make a narrow piece 4" long. Sew a line of stitching down the middle of it. Now fold it in half lengthwise and place on the left back neck edge and sew in place:

Trim the edges that extend beyond the stitching. Bend the loop over the stitching and stitch again:

Sew on the button. I make sure to catch the binding in the back, so the button will be strong.

Next, if you have not yet sewn the skirt, go to the post Easy Hem. Ifyou have, go to Joining Skirt and Bodice.
